Elbow Arthroscopy FAQ
How long does an elbow arthroscopy take to complete?
Depending on the extent of damage that may need to be treated, elbow arthroscopy can take about 45 – 90 minutes to complete. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and you should be able to go home to same day after surgery. You will need to arrange to have someone drive you home following your procedure.
How long does it take to recover from elbow arthroscopy?
Since arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure, recovery tends to be shorter. You might need to limit the mobility of your elbow and follow specific aftercare instructions. Total recovery time can take about 6 – 8 weeks.
Will I need physical therapy after elbow surgery?
Depending on the exact issue that caused your elbow pain, you may need physical therapy following an elbow arthroscopy. During physical therapy, exercises will be used to help restore the range of movement in your elbow. Our team will let you know if you are a candidate for physical therapy following your procedure.
