Dorsal Column Stimulators in Frisco, TX
What Are Dorsal Column Stimulators?
Pain within the spine that is not diminished with traditional therapies may be relieved with a dorsal column stimulator at Preston Surgery Center. We have experienced, board-certified, and fellowship-trained pain management specialists Dr. Mohammad Tariq, Dr. David Keelen, and Dr. Gabor Racz on staff. Also known as neuromodulation, a dorsal column stimulator may be a better treatment option for patients with medical conditions, like:
- Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)
- Failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS)
- Nerve damage and pain in the torso, legs, and arms
- Neuropathy
- Radiculopathy
After your evaluation and physical examination for a dorsal column stimulator, we can schedule you for outpatient surgery here in our on-site AAAASF-accredited surgery center. An electrode and a generator would be placed under your skin and near the nerves of your spinal cord. The electrode will generate low-voltage electrical currents to change the way you feel pain in the designated area. You can return to your own home to recover. Follow-up appointments are required soon after surgery to check on the healing of your incisions and remove sutures. In the years to come, you will need to replace the batteries within the generator when needed.
You are in more control of your pain when you have a dorsal column stimulator implanted beneath your skin. If you would like to discover if this treatment is available for you, please call and schedule an appointment. You can also expect to have a fee estimate available to you once the treatment has been decided by Dr. Tariq, Dr. Keelen, or Dr. Racz that it is in your best interest to have a dorsal column stimulator placed. Our billing department can also work with you and your insurance carrier if needed. For patients who do not have insurance or really high deductibles, we can also discuss our cash-payment option.
