What are Hip Injections?

The hip joint is the largest joint in the body, and it tends to cause people issues as they age or with weight fluctuations. The hip is often put under extreme stress due to the upper body, which can cause normal wear and tear on the cartilage. This wear and tear can reduce cartilage and cause inflammation on the hip, as well as osteoarthritis, thus causing the pain that so many experience. There are ways to reduce this pain, however, at Preston Surgery Center. Our board-certified and fellowship-trained Frisco, TX physicians provide our patients with noninvasive hip injections to relieve pain from inflammation and arthritis. Frequently Asked Questions About Hip Injections

Why do I have pain in my hip?
Pain in the hip is something many people experience at one point or another in their life. Bending, walking, standing, jumping, running, and many of the movements we make every day put stress on our hips. Because the hip bears the weight of the upper body, it can often incur wear and tear that causes the cartilage to break down, resulting in inflammation, and in some cases, osteoarthritis.

How much do hip injections cost?
The cost of hip injections may differ from person to person, depending on your particular insurance plan. However, typically a hip injection costs around $627. We want you to get the care you need so please ask us about how we may be able to help with low-interest financing options.

Do you accept insurance?
At Preston Surgery Center, we accept a wide variety of insurance plans. To find out if your insurance company works with our facility, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card or ask one of our friendly team members for help. We want to make getting the care you need as easy as possible!

What can I expect after my hip injection?
Your hip injection should only take a few minutes and will begin to kick in about 15 – 20 minutes after your injection. You may begin to notice pain returning in the following 4 – 6 hours; however, the steroid medicine should start to take effect within the next week. Depending on your particular issues, we will schedule follow-up visits as necessary to keep you comfortable.

How often can I get hip injections?
Typically, it’s suggested to have no more than 3 – 4 injections in the same area of the body each year. After your initial injection, we will take a look at how well the injection works and create a treatment plan from there. Our goal is to reduce your pain in the safest way possible!
