Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) in Frisco, TX
What is an implantable loop recorder?
At Preston Surgery Center, our board-certified and fellowship-trained electrophysiologist, Dr. Amer Suleman, can place an implantable loop recorder (ILR). This is a small, life-saving device that is placed under the skin to record heartbeats. Dr. Suleman is a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology, and he will place an ILR for patients as a diagnostic tool by recording how fast or slow the heart is beating over time. At Preston Surgery Center, Dr. Suleman can perform the placement of an ILR on-site. Using a local anesthetic, he can make a small incision near the heart and insert the device within it. Once the ILR is in position, Dr. Suleman will close the incision with sutures. This is not a procedure that requires a lengthy hospital stay afterward. We have a world-class facility in Frisco, TX where patients can safely have an ILR placed.
You may need to have an ILR placed near your heart if you are experiencing:
- A fast, resting heart rate (also known as tachycardia)
- A low, resting heart rate (also known as bradycardia)
- An abnormal heart rate or heartbeat pattern
- A lack of blood flow from the heart to the brain, causing fainting spells
When an electrocardiogram (ECG) or any type of external heart monitor is not an effective diagnostic test for your symptoms, you may need to see a specialist. Dr. Suleman can provide you with treatment solutions with the ILR diagnostic implant, which will provide a recording of your heart beats for a longer time (up to three years) than a standard ECG. Dr. Suleman can offer you an electrophysiologic study of your heart with an ILR at Preston Surgery Center.
Protecting Your Health and Heart
Having an implantable loop recorder placed can save your life. While it is only a small device, it can provide a lot of useful information about your heart’s rhythm. Many patients cannot get a correct diagnosis with just an ECG reading as it is just a few seconds of information captured at the doctor’s office. We can offer you an in-depth study of your heart beats with the ILR at Preston Surgery Center in Frisco, TX. The fees for the placement of an ILR will be available to you right away. The fees will cover Dr. Suleman’s physician’s fee, facility fee, and anesthesia. Please call our office today to make an appointment.
