Trigeminal and Sphenopalatine Nerve Blocks in Frisco, TX

What are Trigeminal and Sphenopalatine Nerve Blocks?

When your headache and facial pain is too difficult to ignore, you may need to see a specialist when customary remedies have been tried and other medical conditions have been ruled out. At Preston Surgery Center, we offer care to patients with head and facial pain several options in treatment, which includes trigeminal and sphenopalatine nerve blocks. This involves a guided injection of a local anesthetic and a steroid (cortisone) into the corresponding nerve at our AAAASF-accredited surgery center.

A trigeminal nerve block is an injection that goes into the trigeminal nerve for facial pain. A sphenopalatine nerve block is injected into the sphenopalatine ganglion for headaches and other facial pains. These are both minimally invasive procedures performed by our board-certified and fellowship-trained pain management specialists, Dr. Mohammad Tariq, Dr. David Keelen, and Dr. Gabor Racz. How many injections you need or how often you will have a nerve block performed will depend on your individual case. We can also supplement your treatment with medication management, physical therapy, minimally invasive surgeries (if necessary), and more. Each patient will have a personalized treatment plan based on their health, diagnosis, and level of pain.
